The End of The Taken King

We did it. Guardians across the universe took down the Taken King this weekend for the very first time. This is such an amazing experience to have in Destiny. The raid included with The Taken King, named King's Fall, is such a unique experience. What I found fascinating about this raid is how this is the first raid in Destiny that we, Guardians, have been the first to dive into. Vault of Glass and Crota's End both had a fireteam enter it before us, with tragic results. However this raid, we are the first team to go and try to take down the Taken King.

Many Guardians, including myself were thrilled to have the raid come out on Friday so we could have the whole weekend to try and take down Oryx. I had to work Friday and part of Saturday so I had to hold off the attempt until Saturday evening. Friday, during my work, I was able to load up the stream with no sound and watch my favorite streamer Versusthestream and his crew go first World First. They, in my opinion, were amazing to watch. They were ahead of most teams and working on learning the mechanics before other teams and got to Oryx quicker than any other team. Unfortunately Teawrex and Gothalion's team were the ones to actually get World First with Versus following shortly. They quickly shouted out Versus after killing Oryx because without them looking at the chat they would not have known what to look for at the 1% part of Oryx. Mad props to everyone going for World First and the teams that ventured into King's Fall.

My journey started Saturday to accomplish the mission of taking down the Taken King. I LFG'd and joined a group that got me to Golgoroth but they couldn't handle the adds so they left the group (it was pretty late and everyone was tired). So then Sunday rolled around and I had plans till 4pm. At 4, I loaded up LFG once more and was able to get into a very cool group that we defeated Golgoroth in about 10 tries and moved onto the sisters which took us equally about 10 tries to accomplish. Now we were at Oryx, the King himself. Our group was quick killing Ogres and activating the platforms but we did not have the DPS to stagger Oryx which guarantees a wipe if you are unable to do so. After about 20 attemts we realize that we just can't accomplish it and we all sent friend requests to try again later when some of the team is higher light levels. Then I hit up LFG once more and was super lucky to find a group that needed 1 more and was at Oryx. The very first go we were able to get him to half health and then we wiped. We knew we had the right team. We could taste it. After about 20 more wipes we defeated him and cried out in joy. I was able to complete my quest and start on the Touch of Malice questline. My loot from the raid was a chestpiece and a hand cannon which I honestly my infuse the weapon to power up something more useful but I don't want to risk it quite yet.

WIth King's Fall done (on my main character), I can finally concentrate on my quests to unlock the PVP weeklies and other questlines that I have been ignoring for other ones. The Taken King has done so much to Destiny, in so many good ways. I honestly didn't expect the game to evolve this much with one expansion and I'm freaking excited to see what else Destiny will do. Bungie, you had me at vanilla Destiny and you keep me interested in Destiny. Thank you. Thank you so much.

The New S1G Blog

UPDATE! I am tired of being lazy and not updating this site as much as I want. The easiest method I have found to do this is to talk about what I play the most, which is Destiny. Every week I plan to tell my adventures of my Titan, Warlock, and Hunter on this blog. I have countless memories and journeys throughout the Destiny universe that I wish I would have recorded but failed to do so. This will be the home of my journey through Destiny. Thank you all who have visited here before and those who will visit after!

Alrighty! To start off, this week is the week before The Taken King comes out. We were met with patch 2.0 update for Destiny. With this update came a lot of changes to the UI and system, but this week specifically came the Crucible Preview Event. This week all players of Destiny get to experience Rift and Mayhem modes. Oh what a time to be alive in the Destiny universe!

RIFT! It's absolutely fantastic! A mode rewarding teamwork and coordination is finally in Destiny that's not Trials. I am a huge fan of this mode and dunkin' on fools never felt better except maybe in NBA Street Vol.2. The only downside to this mode, that I have felt, is that playing with randos is extremely difficult. A well coordinated team will demolish you and new players don't have a lot of time to get a good "feel" of the mode. Then again, this is also based on everyone playing new maps as well as a new mode. Rift is something I plan on going in to with a team of 4 or more when it officially launches on September 15!

Also, The Take King is so close I can taste it. I have my bounties stored up and have a gameplan in mind. I'm taking Tuesday and Wednesday off from work to destroy the content they release. My goal is to rush with Titan through the story to unlock Sunbreaker and turn all my bounties in to level that subclass super quick. After that, do the same with my Hunter and Warlock. With all my characters lvl 40 I plan to run Court of Oryx to get the best loot I can to prepare for the Nightfall and Weeklies. Any person on my PSN list can join me for these activities as well as Twitter. Just tweet at me @SteveThe1ne if you want to attend. I'll be playing all day when the game goes live and streaming all day as well!

What's up Gamers. S1G here with my three tipcs for Destiny's Crucible Map: Shores of Time. This map is one of my personal favorites.

1. The first thing you are going to realize in this map is where Bravo is located. It's isolation makes you want to go capture it without hesitation. Be forewarned though, most of the time as you are making you're way to Bravo, there will be a Sniper waiting for you in the back. If you're c oming from Alpha, jump to the back of Bravo and hide behind the left containers and keep an eye on your radar. If you're coming from Charlie and want to sneak up, use the platforms on the right side and get the upper hand of anyone capturing Bravo.

2. Heavy Ammo is the second most notable thing about this map. One spawns right where Alpha zone is at and the other spawns in the back between Bravo and Charlie. I personally disagree with the locations of these, but it can lead to you destroying opponents who are chasing it. At Alpha, you can save your super to guarantee your drop of ammo or punish anyone who picked it up. If you are near Charlie or coming from Alpha, you can snipe anyone who is waiting for the ammo to spawn. Trust me, there is always someone out in the open waiting.

3. Last topic I want to discuss on this map is the use of cover. Charlie is the only zone with lack of close-coverage. What I mean by that, if you're losing a gun fight and need to readjust, you have to be pretty far away from the capture zone in order to do that. However, Bravo and Alpha both have fatal funnels that you can use to your advantage. Always be mindful of your placement and try to use the cover the map gives you to your advantage.
