What Will Make Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 "Ultimate"

Marvel VS Capcom 3 released with so much hype in February to be met with mixed reviews. Sure, the gameplay is MvC all the way but the lack of content for a game that fans wanted for 10 years was missing. The lackluster story mode and horrible online lobbies made a lot of fans upset after a great release of Super Street Fighter IV. Now this upcoming November, we have Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, a re-released copy of MvC3 with a confirmed 10 extra characters. What will make Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 a better release than the original? Here are some things we at GamersGameplay would love to see.

  • Story Mode

MvC3 was desperately lacking an interesting story, which showed some promise in the trailers before release. Now with a decent amount of time to work on Ultimate before its release, this could change. Alternate endings, cut scenes, team endings/openings, hidden fights, or just more dialog and character development could make UMvC3 have one of the most robust story modes in fighting game history.

  • Roster Change/Fix

Announced and shown at Comic-Con, we do know they are adding a lot of changes to the combat. X-Factor will be revised and some characters will be gaining/losing moves. This is obviously needed and I hope more changes will be made to help with the balance of the game in general, however the addition of Strider, Nemesis, Phoenix Wright and all the other added characters will not make up for the current roster. It is nice to see some more interesting characters being released but there are still better choices that Capcom is just ignoring, especially for a fan service game. Mega-Man and Venom are by far, two of the most requested characters to be added. Venom is a little more understandable why he isn't available, but Mega-Man is Capcom's staple character, and should have been one of the first characters announced.

  • Replays/Spectator Mode
Everyone who has been playing MvC3 online has to be fed up with the matchmaking and lobby system. Sitting at your console and just staring at health bars deplete has got to be one of the most boring things I've seen in a fighting game. If there wasn't another fighting game to compare this to, then I wouldn't complain as badly. The biggest complaint is understanding how the same company could release a previous title with a replay theater and spectator mode, but fail at adding these awesome features in one of their most wanted releases.

  • Interesting DLC

Does paying real money to fight the A.I. of some of the developers sound like good downloadable content to you, because it doesn't for us. Shadow Battles are neat, I'll give them that, but nothing compared to adding a large amount of alternate costumes or additional fighters. Capcom has shown they are definite supporters of digital downloads, the least they could do is add better content to a game that is very popular.

  • Extras
Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is almost 100% fan service. There are almost no extra features in MvC3 which can easily be changed with the release of UMvC3. Character model viewer, stat tracking, a robust challenge mode, mini-games, biographies, and even character vignettes can easily be added to give fans more of what they want in a title of this magnitude.

Capcom has the ability to make Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 a larger title than its predecessor. Fans are eagerly awaiting more news and hoping for the best. Come this November, when we all pick up a copy of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, we will find out if Capcom did their best or just rehashed a product to sell again.
